Thank You for Joining Us for AVID Day 2024!

On Friday, August 30, we joyously commemorated our inaugural AVID Day, as declared by Mayor Todd Gloria and the City of San Diego—home to AVID Center. This celebration was not confined to our local community but echoed across the nation and even as far as Australia! AVID students, educators, staff, and leadership shared their Declarations of Impact for the upcoming academic year on social media. The overwhelming enthusiasm, active participation, and sheer joy that schools and districts contributed to AVID Day continue to inspire us.

We can’t wait to roll this incredible energy into AVID NatCon, December 12–14, in Dallas, Texas, where we will continue to explore how to multiply our impact as a community. In the meantime, keep sharing your stories of impact with us using #AVIDImpact, and let us know—What will your impact be?

AVID Teacher Writes to Nearly 1,000 Colleges to Promote AVID Program

Ashley Bell, an AVID alum and dedicated teacher at Abell Junior High, has championed the expansion of the AVID program to include seventh graders at all junior high campuses in Midland ISD. Also, her recent outreach to nearly 1,000 colleges garnered a wave of support, filling her classroom with inspiring college pennants— which caught the attention of several publications! Congratulations, Ashley, on your remarkable efforts and dedication. We’re proud to have you as part of our AVID community and look forward to seeing the continued impact of your work.

Professional Learning for District Supervisors and Coaches of School Principals

Revolutionize your school sites with AVID Supervisor of Principals Academy. Enrollment for the hybrid learning academy is now open, and sessions will commence this November. The Academy runs over the course of six months.

AVID is excited to announce the creation of a special book celebrating the incredible stories of our alums, and we need your help to make it extraordinary! 

We're looking for stories that inspire student learning and showcase the core AVID Essential Skills. Nominate alums using this form and share it with fellow educators who know of compelling AVID alum stories. Please submit your nominations by Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
