As we head into the final months of the school year, it’s time to celebrate the dedication and success of our AVID students and look toward the bright future ahead. From college admissions to career steps, we’re seeing the results of their hard work paying off. This is also the season to recruit the next class of AVID students, reflect on what’s worked, and consider how to improve outcomes for the year ahead.
While we plan for the future, let’s also think about how we’re preparing our staff to continue this work. How ready is your Site Team? Now is the time to celebrate all the milestones, big and small, at AVID Summer Institute and beyond.
Join us this summer for Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) professional learning events. This year’s SI is shaping up to be our best yet, with a revamped General Session and new, free Extended Experiences to bond Site Teams, build relational capacity, and create lasting memories. If you can’t make it to SI, explore our new, locally focused SI Pop-Ups or enjoy the convenience of virtual learning with AVID Ignite®. Early Bird registration is open now—don’t wait; cost savings end May 1, 2025.
Let’s build on our success and keep inspiring greatness in our students!

Granite Park Junior High: A Model of AVID Excellence and Student Success
Granite Park Junior High School, the first AVID demonstration school in Utah, was revalidated this year for its commitment to student success. Serving 800 students from over 50 nationalities, with 70%+ multilingual learners and Title 1 status, Granite Park embraces AVID’s college- and career-going culture with open arms.
Granite Park ensures academic success through AVID strategies: 73% of staff members are AVID-trained and 64% use WICOR® regularly. Since 2016, 35% of students have taken the AVID Elective, and 69% continued into AP and honors classes in high school. Their mandatory Grizzly Way course for non–AVID Elective 6th graders also helps engage the entire school in AVID strategies, setting all students up for future success.
Granite Park is a true AVID success story, inspiring hope and academic growth for every student. Congratulations on this impressive achievement!
